Roy Bechtel, PT, PhD is the owner and chief therapist at Yes! Physical Therapy, LLC. He began his academic career at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dep't. of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, in 1985.  

Dr. Bechtel has earned the following degrees: BA – Urban Studies (COW); BS – Physical Therapy (UMB); MA – Physical Therapy (NYU); PhD – Biomechanics (UMD).

For his dissertation, he studied the physiology and biomechanical properties of the human sacroiliac joint.

Dr. B was the first Director of the Faculty Practice of the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM)'s  Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science. He retired from UMSOM in 2011 as Course Coordinator for the Orthopedic Physical Therapy curriculum. He continues in the role of adjunct faculty member.

Over his career, Dr. B has worked at NYU Medical Center, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, and the University of Maryland Medical Center, from which he retired in 2015, as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics, and later opened Yes! PT.

Dr. B has taught numerous continuing education courses in this country and abroad, has published several scientific articles and a book. Dr. B is co-holder of a US Patent (#7591769) for a safe and effective exercise device to relieve back pain by enhancing the function of the multifidus muscle in the low back. In 2003 Dr. B won the prestigious Maryland Daily Record Healthcare Professional Hero Award. Dr. B is a Life Member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT).

In 2016, Dr. B was awarded Reviewer of the Year honors from the Journal of Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy.
